Grace periods and the refund that arrives late

Grace is not loyalty. When a card fails, both major stores retry. During that window the subscriber can still look “active” in an export that was pulled too early. A week later the refund row appears in a different payout file, and last month’s retained count has to be walked back.

In Kuala Lumpur sittings we keep a paper column labelled “still in retry.” It is ugly and it prevents a founder from celebrating a Friday number that Monday will reverse.

If your extract cannot show refunds at all, say so at the file check. We would rather shrink the briefing than invent a retained base.
